Located in the beautiful Columbia Gorge, Hood River County has an approximate population of 24,057 (2021) and a geographical area of 533 miles. Hood River, the Windsurfing capital of the world, is home to some of the Pacific Northwest’s best destinations for scenic hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, craft breweries and wineries.

APPLICATION PROCESS

To apply to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, you must submit a completed application to Hood River County Human Resources. Each job announcement will outline any required testing, which may include a written exam through National Testing Network (NTN) and/or an Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT).

Once your application has been submitted and successful completion of testing has been confirmed (if required) applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. Successful candidates will then move onto the following steps in the hiring process:

  • Statement of Personal History (SOPH) background investigation
  • Conditional Job Offer
  • Fingerprints, Psychological, Medical and Drug Screen
  • Formal Job Offer

Candidates must pass all required written, physical, oral, background, medical and psychological examinations prior to receiving a job offer by the Sheriff’s Office.
